ABOUT TALKING HEADS
Formed at the Rhode Island School Of Design, Talking Heads initially were art-rock
without the pomposities usually associated with the genre. Taking a direct lift
from the New Wave/Punk Rock movement circulating at CBGBs on the Bowery in New
York City, Talking Heads disregarded the standard rock poses for that of an intellectually
probing unit, complete with dorko haircuts and preppy outerwear. Led by David
Byrne and his straining turtle-like neck and voice, the band burst out of the
gate with the stripped-down polish of 77 and songs as singular as "Psychokiller"
and "No Compassion."
