ABOUT PHARELL WILLIAMS FT JAY Z
Pharrell Williams is one half of the ever-popular, ubiquitous writing duo, The Neptunes (his partner is Chad Hugo). Pharrell was born the oldest of three sons to Pharaoh Williams and Carolyn Williams. His father was a handyman, and his mother was a teacher. In seventh grade, Williams met fellow band mate Hugo. The two cliques right away. Williams played the drums. In 1992, the duo sold their song, “Rump Shakur,” to Wreckx N effect. The two were still in high school. Then they began to work with artists such as Snoop Dogg and No Doubt. In 2003, Pharrell Williams wrote and produced rapper Nelly’s single, “Hot In Herre.” He did the same with Britney Spear’s single, “I’m A Slave 4 U.” In 2003, Pharrell released his album entitled The Neptunes Present…Clones. The album features the 2003 single, “Frontin,” with Jay-Z. The single debuted at number one in August 2003.
