ABOUT OTTOWAN
This European disco duo consisted of Annette (b. 1960, Guadeloupe Islands, West Indies) and Patrick (b. 1956, Guadeloupe Islands, West Indies). Patrick moved to Paris in 1966 and Annette in 1976. He was already a star in France when they met and formed Ottawan. "D.I.S.C.O." was a hit on the continent in 1979 and was requested by returning holiday makers who helped make it a UK hit in 1980. Only the combined efforts of the Police ("Don't Stand So Close To Me") and Barbra Streisand ("Woman In Love") managed to hold Ottawan at number 2 for three weeks. The follow-ups, all in a very similar vein, were "You're OK", "Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart)" (which reached number 3), and "Help, Get Me Some Help!". By this time their audience was growing tired of their material, and Ottawan disbanded.
