ABOUT KEITH MURRAY
b. USA. Rapper Keith Murray made an immediate impact with his debut for Jive Records, 1994's The Most Beautifullest Thing In The World. As well as his trademark tongue-twisting delivery, a throwback
to old-school hip-hop which won him many fans, many critics were impressed by the similar dexterity employed in his writing style. However, despite good early press and sales, its final turnover figure of just over 300,000 was a major disappointment both to the artist and his record label. Despite this, he continued to enjoy a high media-profile by appearing on a Coca-Cola advertisement and guesting on remixes of Mary J. Blige's "Be Happy", Total's "Can't You See' and LL Cool J."s "I Shot Ya'. For 1996"s Enigma, Murray once again employed Eric Sermon's hard-edged funk, but this time much of it drew riffs from the work of Maze/Frankie Beverly rather than the G-funk staples, Parliament and George Clinton. By 2003 Murray had signed with Def Jam Records, leaving funk for rap.
