ABOUT JUNIOR SENIOR
Rarely has a pop act been more appropriately named than Danish duo Junior Senior. Junior, the short and thin Jesper Mortensen (b. 17 February 1977, Jutland, West Denmark), contributes vocals and guitar while his musical partner Senior, the tall and thick set Jeppe Laursen (b. 25 December 1975, Jutland, West Denmark), skits and raps, giving the band their main focus on the live stage. The pair formed Junior Senior in 1998 after an unsuccessful indie rock venture in Copenhagen. Signing to the Danish label Crunchy Frog, they had their first major exposure in 2002 when Fatboy Slim played "Move Your Feet" at that year's Miami Music Conference. One of the most infectious, feel good tracks of the early twenty-first century, it hinted at the sound of a reunited Jackson Five and became a worldwide singles success. Senior's catchy rap "D-d-don't Stop The Beat" became the catch-phrase adopted for their album, which included the similarly uplifting "Rhythm Bandits" and "Shake Your Coconuts" to prove that the duo were not about to be dismissed as one-hit-wonders. Exposure in America followed with Los Angeles radio station KROQ FM playing "Move Your Feet", and a label showcase in Austin raising their profile. With lyrics that stress perfect harmony between boys and girls, the positive vibe of the record ensured a dedicated following for the band.
