This US rock trio, formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1986, comprises bass player and vocalist Robby Takac, guitarist and vocalist Johnny Rzeznik and drummer George Tutuska (later replaced by Mike Malinin). The band's first two albums were compared to
Cheap Trick and the Replacements. They started doing unlikely cover versions on Jed, when the professional crooner Lance Diamond sang guest vocals on a cover version of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Down On The Corner". He also sang on a version of Prince's "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man' on Hold Me Up. Both albums featured unpretentious pop punk songwriting, and the band was now being celebrated by a growing number of fans in the media.
