ABOUT FREDA PAYNE
Freda Payne was a soul, jazz and pop vocalist, who registered on the soul and pop playlists in 1970 with several sides for the Invictus imprint. Payne's early musical experience was eclectic. She debuted on the jazz-oriented Impulse! label in 1965. In 1970, Payne's hit entitled "Band of Gold" catapulted her to stardom. Her encore was "Deeper & Deeper." The song "Bring the Boys Home" would be her biggest R&B seller, however, rousing much controversy.
