ABOUT D ANGELO
Let's all take a moment to give thanks for the R&B revolution. Singers like
Tony Rich, Maxwell, Erykah Badu and Des'ree have replaced the cookie-cutter formula
of modern R&B with a smoother, more intelligent vibe. One of the first performers
to spearhead this change was D'Angelo, a ridiculously talented and prodigious
musician whose debut album Brown Sugar knocked the world over and paved the way
for his peers. Sadly, the weight of D'Angelo's impact was considerably lessened
soon after the album's release, as many other musicians rushed in after his success
with a similar sound. Still, D'Angelo was the first to truly breath life into
a stale form and give it a new beginning.
