ABOUT BILLY RAY CYRUS
It would be incredibly simple to define Billy Ray Cyrus's entire career by three
words: "Achy Breaky Heart." It would also be wrong. Though that song
propelled him from unknown to super-known, Cyrus had been working the Nashville
and Los Angeles circuits six years before it hit the airwaves. When all's said
and done, however, both "Achy" and the debut release that contained
it, Some Gave All, continue to dwarf the rest of his career and his catalog. Some
Gave All sold over 9 million copies and spent a whopping 17 weeks at the top of
the Billboard pop charts. His follow-up, It Won't Be The Last, also went platinum,
and his third release did moderately well, but following the lackluster performance
of 1996's Trail Of Tears, Cyrus dropped off the music map completely.
