ABOUT BETH NIELSEN CHAPMAN
b. Beth Nielsen, Harlington, Texas, USA. Nielsen Chapman sang harmony on Tanya
Tucker's 1988 US number 1 country single "Strong Enough To Bend", which
she wrote with Don Schlitz. She also sang harmony and wrote Willie Nelson's 1989
US country number 1, "Nothing I Can Do It About It Now". Her debut album
for Reprise Records (following an earlier set for Capitol Records) failed to secure
her career as a singer, however, although it included her version of "Down
On My Knees" (covered by Trisha Yearwood). The 1993 follow-up was an equally
strong set, moving further away from country into adult-orientated pop music.
Following the sudden death of her husband from cancer, Nielsen Chapman wrote and
recorded Sand And Water, a touchingly restrained meditation on grief and loss.
Similarly emotional was "Feathers, Bones And Shells" from the belated
follow-up, Deeper Still.
