ABOUT BELLEFIRE
Consisting of Kelly Kilfeather, Tara Lee, Cathy Newell, Ciara Newell, and former
member Paula, the group Bellefire was born. Paula's time in the group was short
lived as their manager (Louis Walsh) wanted to have a quartet. The girls all met
at an audition for a co-ed band in Dublin. When they were asked to open for Irish
boy-band Boyzone, They didn't have a name. They noticed someone standing around
eating a Kit-Kat, and then called themselves Chit-Chat, but they didn't keep that
name. They chose the name Bellefire, which comes from the Irish word "Bealtaine"
or May, and the Celtic Festival that takes place in Ireland every May. They changed
it to Bellefire to give it a more feminine sound.
